At the end of 2023, there were more than three million electric vehicles on the road in the United States. While not a massive percentage of the population, it is a number that continues to grow year over year. If you drive an EV and are planning a vacation, knowing where the charging stations are along your route is of the utmost importance. While several of our Paramount Destinations properties have electric vehicle chargers in them, you’ll also find convenient locations throughout the area. This month, we’re sharing where to find EV charging stations in the Outer Banks to make your trip planning a breeze. Check it all out below and get ready to enjoy your incredible vacation to the OBX.

Understanding the Types of EV Chargers
There are three levels of EV chargers: 1, 2, and 3. The difference between each is the speed with which they charge your vehicle, with level one being the slowest and level 3 being a direct current – the fastest. In the Outer Banks, you’ll find all three speeds throughout the area. As the level ones can take a long time to fully charge from empty, these are mostly found in homes where you’ll be overnight. A level 2 can charge your car in 4-10 hours, and a DC level 3 can get you to 80% in roughly 20 minutes.
