Places to Take Your Pup for a Beach Day on the Outer Banks
Corolla
If you’re staying in one of our Corolla rentals, you’re in luck! Corolla has a beautiful beach that’s perfect for walking the dog. This gorgeous destination allows dogs on the beach as long as you obey their year-round leash law. Keep your dog on a leash, get rid of all pet waste, and have a fantastic day frolicking around in the sand!
Corolla welcomes more than just four-legged friends. This exciting spot also allows 4×4 vehicle access on the beach! Just make sure you have a parking permit if you plan to visit between the Friday before Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Duck
The perfect place for Fido to run free is on the shores of Duck, NC. This is the ideal destination for the dog that loves to play fetch! Dogs are allowed on the beach unleashed, but if you plan to roam the town as well, your pet needs to be on a leash under 10 feet long.
Southern Shores
Bring Fluffy to the beach in Southern Shores if you’re planning your Outer Banks vacation for the wintertime. Dogs are allowed on the beach on a leash as long as you possess a bag for pet waste and dispose of it in the designated trash containers.
Pets are only allowed on the beach before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m. between May 15 and September 15.
Nags Head
Spot will love you for taking him for a walk on the shores of Nags Head! Nags Head dog rules also include a year-round leash law and removal of all pet waste. What makes Nags Head unique is that horses can also roam around here!
Kitty Hawk
Despite the name, Kitty Hawk loves dogs as well. Make sure your dog has a rabies tag on its collar, and bring a bag for pet waste. Between the Friday before Memorial Day and the day after Labor Day, you must keep your furry friend on a short leash under six feet.
However, if the dog is well behaved and won’t disturb beachgoers, it can be off the leash as long as you stay within 30 feet of the dog.
