Family Fun
The Outer Banks offers plenty of activities that the entire family can enjoy together. Spend time learning about the local coastal environment at the recently renovated NC Aquarium or new Currituck Wildlife Center in Corolla or just have some family fun playing miniature golf or riding go-carts.

The Grass Course (252-453-4198) is located next to the Corolla Light Sports Center in Corolla, NC and offers the Outer Banks' first all natural grass course. The course is open from April to October and at Thanksgiving and Christmas. During the summer season the soundside greens are open seven days a week from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. The 18-hole course includes par 3s, 4s, and 5s, and the rolling hills around natural dunes provide stimulating play for beginning and veteran golfers.
The North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island boasts a 285,000-gallon ocean tank, the largest in the state. Featuring sharks, sea turtles and hundreds of fish, this exhibit houses a replica of the USS Monitor, where scuba divers give daily educational programs. Over one million visitors a year flock to this 68,000-square foot educational facility to explore marine life in the ''Waters of the Outer Banks.''
The Aquarium is located on Airport Road just three miles north of Manteo, NC off of Highway 64 and adjacent to the Dare County Regional Airport. The Aquarium is open daily year round except for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. Operating hours are from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and feedings take place daily at 3 p.m. The cost of admission ranges from free for children five and under, six dollars for ages six to seventeen, seven dollars for seniors and eight dollars for adults. OBX Marathon, Half Marathon, and Fun Run offer runners of all ages the opportunity to view miles of scenic and historic North Carolina’s barrier islands. “Run Away” to the Outer Banks with friends and family and enjoy all the weekend’s activities leading up the Marathon on Sunday, November 8th, 2009. The course begins in Kitty Hawk with sound views and leads you to the famous Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills. Next, participants travel through Nags Head Woods Maritime Forest, past Jockey’s Ridge State Park and the largest sand dune on the East Coast, over Washington-Baum Bridge, and finish on historic Roanoke Island.
