On the Beach

Golfers will be delighted with the variety of golf courses to play on and around the Outer Banks.  Scenic courses wind in between live oaks, along the marshes of the Sound and some even offer ocean views.

The Currituck Club is located at 620 Currituck Clubhouse Drive, Corolla, NC 27927 and is the only 18 hole semi-private golf course on the northern Outer Banks that is open to the public.  The scenic championship golf course was designed by Rees Jones and winds through the premier gated community in the area stretching across 6,885 yards of remarkably diverse coastal terrain and along the Currituck Sound.  This course was rated one of the "10 Best New Places You Can Play" by Golf Magazine and in May of 1999 Golf Digest recognized The Currituck Club as one of the "Top 25 Courses in North Carolina."  In 2004 it was rated Golf Digest Best Places to Play. 

The Clubhouse at the Currituck Club features a fully stocked Pro Shop and dining facilities and full bar at “Bunker’s Grill.”   Outstanding golf professionals offer group and private lessons and gift certificates are also available.

In late 2007 the Currituck Club began replacing its greens and in April of 2008 every spectacular green will be bentgrass L93.  The Currituck Club will be the ultimate course to play on your beach vacation this year!

Seascape Golf Links is a Scottish- style links course located among the windswept sand dunes at 300 Eckner Street Kitty Hawk, NC.  This diverse course which is open to the public hosted the 2000 North Carolina Open and has an exciting tournament schedule for those competitive golf enthusiasts.  

Nags Head Golf Links is located at 5615 S. Seachase Drive Nags Head, NC 27959 in an idyllic setting along the shoreline of the Roanoke Sound which provides breathtaking views.  The 18 hole course developed by architect Bob Moore, was designed to be enjoyed by players of all abilities.  The coastal environment affords pleasant conditions year round but the coastal winds often present a challenge prompting Golf Digest to call the Links "the longest 6,126 yards you'll ever play," when featured in 1991. Golf Digest went on to say the holes along the Roanoke Sound are "among the most beautiful in the Eastern U.S."  For these reasons Golf Digest deemed the Nags Head Golf Links a 4½ star winner and Golfweek named it in its top 50.   The course has also been featured in Southern Links making it a favorite among golfers who enjoy the game the way it was meant to be.

On the Mainland

Carolina Club is a challenging 7,000 yard par 72 golf course located at 127 Carolina Club Drive, Grandy, NC 27939 just minutes from the beach.  This well groomed bent grass course with lush Bermuda fairways meanders through wetlands and woodlands and features the par 3 island green.  The large greens and rolling fairways offer a challenge but are accessible to golfers of all levels. 

During your visit to the Carolina Club be sure to visit the fully stocked Pro Shop where you can find most anything a golfer needs and where gift certificates are available for purchase.  Here you can arrange for lessons taught by PGA Professionals or special order any item you might need.  While at the Clubhouse be sure to stop into the snack bar or a bite or to enjoy a cold beverage.

The Pointe Golf Club USGA bentgrass green course, located at 308 Pointe Golf Club Dr Powells, Point, NC 27966 is surrounded by the natural beauty of wax myrtles, pines and cypress and is open to the public.  Its greens have a reputation for being fast so the best advice is to start off in the 30,000 sq. foot natural turf practice area where the grass is maintained exactly like the course which helps by replicating actual playing conditions.  The course architect Russell Breeden designed the course to for all skill levels which is why it is regarded as one of the “most playable” Outer Banks golf courses. 

While visiting the Pointe enjoy breakfast and lunch at Keefer’s Bar and Grille which just underwent a renovation and will re-open in the summer of 2008 in a newly expanded space.  Also make it “A Point” to visit the fully stocked Prop Shop to inquire about private and group lessons or to purchase any needed golf accessories.

Kilmarlic Golf Club is conveniently located at 215 Westside Lane, Powells Point, NC 2796 just 4 miles from the Wright Memorial Bridge in a 605 acre resort like community setting.  This 18 hole championship course wraps along a Ducks Unlimited wetlands preserve through a maritime forest to the Albemarle Sound.  The Tom Steele designed course which was host to the 2004 North Carolina Open, was created as a true partnership between nature and golf. 

In 2008 the $7,000 sq. foot Kilmarlic Clubhouse opens and will house a full-service restaurant and bar which will serve breakfast and lunch, a pro shop, private party facilities and spacious outdoor porches and patios.  It is wonderful setting for a relaxing afternoon after a challenging day on the links.
